Our story

Hello and welcome,

I’m Mary Schepisi, I am an artist. I studied at the Art Students League in New York City and Boston University. And Fiona Mellor, my partner, is a businessperson, having worked exec roles in the media world for 30 years and a keen supporter of the arts.

I have been painting, drawing and stitching portraits, abstract landscapes, words, and the female form for most of my life.

In 1984 I married the film director, writer and producer Fred Schepisi and we have travelled many places – the sights and textures which has inspired much of my work.

In 2016 Fiona saw my work, bought it and became fascinated with it. Then in 2019 she visited my studio and started photographing my paintings – zooming in to create abstract designs. This has inspired us to start a homewares business – tea towels, placemats, napkins, cocktail napkins, cushions, aprons, limited edition artworks and individual guest hand towels. When Covid-19 struck we decided to create face masks or 'face art' based on the idea of 'staying healthy with style'.
